Hey! I’m a third year natsci, and your SJCMS President! Music is something that I’m very passionate about and is a huge part of my life; I am a classically-trained pianist (I have an FTCL 3rd diploma and have been an instrumental award holder here at Cambridge for two years), I also play the cello, and I love singing and songwriting too. My main goal for this year is to maintain the inclusive atmosphere that SJCMS has to offer, primarily by continuing to increase the diversity of events and musical activities that we host; our society aims to have something to offer for all musicians in Cambridge, of whatever level or genre. With several new initiatives being introduced this year, I'm super excited to work with our excellent new committee to guide SJCMS's growth through another year!

VICE-PRESIDENT and ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: Jenny Ryan

Email: jr881@cam.ac.uk

Hi! I'm a third year music student and SJCMS Vice-President and Artistic Director this year! I'm an oboist and cor anglais player (and occasional pianist), and have been co-principal oboist of the Cambridge Uni Orchestra for the past couple of years. I'm particularly interested in orchestral music, as well as performing 20th-century and contemporary oboe and wind ensemble music. Over the coming year, together with Sohan, I'll be helping to oversee the programming and planning of SJCMS concerts, particularly this term's orchestral concert in chapel and our chapel lates series. My goal for this year is to help make sure as many John's musicians as possible are able to perform and get involved in our events, as well as making sure the society provides a variety of concerts for students to come and enjoy as a well deserved break from studying!

SECRETARY: James Bridson

JUNIOR TREASURER: Jack Murfitt

Email: jm2463@cam.ac.uk

Hi! I'm a third year natsci specialising in chemistry which makes me the perfect fit to be your SJCMS treasurer for this year! My interest in music started when I was 12, learning to play the piano and guitar which I have continued ever since. I am a classical and jazz pianist, but I also love composition, especially in the style of early jazz and ragtime, if you ever hear some wild-western piano coming from the Fisher building its probably me! Over the coming year I’ll be managing the accounts of the society and making sure we can put on as many and the best events we can, so that we can offer something to everyone who loves music!

CHAIRMAN: Tim Watts

SENIOR TREASURER: Prof J. F Kerrigan

MUSIC ADMINISTRATOR: Sophie Kirk

I am the College Music Administrator and look after all music-making in College except the choirs. I am also a violin and viola teacher and player. I have a Music degree from Durham University and have been involved with SJCMS for the last 6 years.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER: Aimee Podevin

Hi! I’m a third-year vet student and your SJCMS marketing officer this year! I have always had a passion for music and held a county flute scholarship, which enabled me to work towards my diploma before the pandemic. I love the thrill of performing, particularly when in orchestras and pit bands. I also play the violin and have enjoyed being part of string quartets at home. As a marketing officer, I hope to enable students to see all the opportunities to get involved with the music society. I am particularly looking forward to publicising the orchestral opportunities, both our friendly open orchestra and the St John’s Orchestra, which performs once a term!

EVENTS AND OUTREACH OFFICER: Flora Tassinari

Email: ft332@cam.ac.uk

Hey! I'm a third year music student and I'm your events and outreach officer! I play the horn and sing so am very passionate about performance and am really looking forward to all the events we have on offer this year! As a society we're very keen to have a wide range of events covering all genres and experience levels, so keep an eye out for all our events because there there is certainly something for everyone to get involved in!
